No, not all homes require the same type of furnace air filter. HVAC air filters come in a variety of sizes and qualities, and some have features that others don't. If you're not sure when you last changed your air filter, it's time to replace it with a new one. After working with domestic heating and cooling systems for more than a century, we've seen that many ovens have common filter errors.
HEPA filters have such tight filtration that they often restrict airflow too much to be practical for most residential forced air systems. If you're trying to understand your system, you might be wondering if your oven filter and air conditioning filter are the same. To answer this question, it's important to understand why filters are so important for your air conditioning system. The most common location for an air filter is in the return air duct or fan compartment, as this allows the filter to clean the air before it reaches the unit. If you have a central heating and air conditioning system or an air conditioning system, this means that you will only have to worry about one filter all year round. The air filter in your HVAC system works to remove particles from the air in your home and to keep the air conditioner and boiler running smoothly.
The boiler and air conditioning system use exactly the same filter, so there's no need to worry about buying different filters for each piece of equipment. We also control the extent to which each filter restricts airflow using a differential pressure transducer installed throughout the air filter. In winter (for the boiler) or in summer (for the air conditioner), you should also visually inspect the filter every month in case intensive use causes it to clog. We have filters and humidifier pads for all major manufacturers (including Air King, American Standard, Aprilaire, GeneralAire, and Honeywell). As manufacturers of furnaces and air conditioning systems have different-sized slots for air filters, they are unfortunately not universal.
However, as mentioned in the previous section, reusable air filters can and should be washed regularly.
